Eildon Housing and Cruden Building kick off community benefits with eight new goal posts for Earlston Primary

Cruden delivering new affordable housing in partnership with Eildon Housing Association

As part of the £11.5 million-pound development for affordable housing currently under construction in Earlston, Eildon Housing Association and Cruden Building have jointly supported the local community by giving something back with the donation of eight new goal posts for Earlston Primary. This was part of a wish list drawn up whilst working alongside Earlston Community Council who represent the local residents.

This project follows the recent refurbishment of the metal railings surrounding the perimeter of the Earlston War Memorial, which was completed in time for Remembrance Sunday last year.

Michael Palethorpe, Production & Community Benefit Manager and Bruce Paxton Assistant Site Manager for Cruden Building along with Ali Weir from Eildon Housing Association were delighted to go along to the Primary School on Tuesday 18 April to present the goal posts (worth over £1000) to Head Teacher, Kevin Wilson and some of the P6/7 pupils.

The pupils very quickly assembled two of the goal posts in record time, to have an impromptu kick-about - just to make sure they were in working order!

Head Teacher Kevin Wilson said, “The new goals are exactly what we hoped for, and as demonstrated, will be greatly appreciated by the children. We want to thank Eildon Housing and Cruden Building for their kind donation.”

Michael Palethorpe (Cruden Building) & Ali Weir (Eildon) added, “It is great to give something back to the local community which we know brings benefits. We intend to follow this up later on in the year with a planned visit to the development site by some primary school pupils when we know it is safe to do so, to let them see first-hand what goes on in a construction site.”
