Project Overview

This specialist Care Unit/Housing Development was constructed on a steeply sloping site within the Tollcross area of Glasgow. The ARBD (Alcohol Related Brain Disease) accommodation consisted of twenty-two self-contained studio flats with designated residents lounges and dining areas on each level.

In addition there is a staff base with common facilities incorporating reception area, offices, small meeting rooms, staff rest area, communal dining and kitchen, large communal lounge, public toilets, assisted bathing facilities, commercial kitchen, room for a visiting Doctor, room for a visiting Hairdresser, laundry, bin storage and staff sleepover bases with en-suite shower room. Under croft parking was also provided.

The mainstream housing comprises of 4nr, 3 storey townhouses for large families designed in compliance with the basic requirements of the general needs classification.

The development also incorporated a group heating system with underfloor distribution, smart technology, CCTV/security alarms together with goods and passenger lifts. The new electrical substation, which was located within the under croft parking area, was subject to a Flood Risk Assessment.
