River View Wins West Midlands LABC Award
The scheme was judged the winner in the Best Inclusive Building category.
We are delighted to announce that the recently completed River View Retirement Apartment Development in Penkridge, Staffs has been recognised for the quality of its design and construction by the judges in the LABC West Midlands – Building Excellence Awards on Friday 8th June 2018 where the scheme was judged the winner in the “Best Inclusive Building” category.
The LABC Building Excellence Awards celebrate brilliant building projects and individuals and award technical know-how and team-working to get the job done.
River View was constructed in the heart of Penkridge Village, Staffordshire on a brownfield site with quite a few challenges, including construction around and over a live sewer that ran under the building. It was a £6.25m development of 41 one and two bedroom retirement living apartments for Housing Plus Group.
It is architecturally striking and meets strict design criteria including Lifetime Homes, Secured by Design and LABC Standards incorporating sustainable energy technologies. In addition to the apartments, River View provides its residents with an orangery, residents lounge, buggy store, activity room and catering kitchen, landscaped gardens and on-site parking.
Cruden Construction delivered the scheme in association with Sutton & Wilkinson Architects, Alan Johnston Partnership Consulting Structural Engineers, Morgan Lambert Consulting Services Engineers and Employers Agent, Thornton & Firkin.
River View beat four other shortlisted finalists to win the award and will now go forward to the National LABC Building Excellence Awards Final to be held in London on November 9th 2018.
