At the centre of the Cruden Group culture is a keen focus on learning and development, our in- house development programme Escalate delivers a wide range of skills to all of our employees through training opportunities in the construction industry.
The Escalate programme strives to build, develop and invest in skills. As part of this ethos Cruden Group work in a number of partnerships to provide training, skills and employment opportunities for the communities that we operate in.
Blackburne House Group has been a long standing training provider partner to the Cruden Group who deliver high quality training, education and consultancy services. Today, the organisation employs 70 staff and offers 50 different courses with 1,000 full and part time learning opportunities for women.
The latest success from this partnership has been demonstrated through Rebecca Wright a trainee student from Blackburne House Group working with the Cruden Group to gain valuable on site construction experience.
Rebecca had wanted to start a career in the construction industry from leaving school and she undertook courses at a number of colleges learning about basic joinery and painting and decorating. Rebecca took some time out after having her first child but last year decided to continue on her career path in construction so approached Blackburne House Group for guidance. Blackburne House Group deliver a number of in-house courses that specialize in construction, offering students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience on live construction sites in partnership construction companies. Rebecca undertook her Diploma in Construction course and was placed with Cruden Group for some hands on experience.
Cruden Group were delighted to welcome another Blackburne House Group student on to one of Cruden Property Services void repairs and maintenance projects for longstanding client Plus Dane Group. Gareth Rigby, Line Manager commented 'Rebecca started her placement with enthusiasm to learn, it was clear from the outset that Rebecca had a passion to develop her skills in the construction industry and was quickly held in high regard from the rest of the workforce'
Since completing her placement Rebecca has now been working full time for Cruden Property Services since August 2009, under the support of Cruden Mentor Mal Singleton, Resident Liaison Manager. Both Mal and Gareth were delighted to attend Rebecca's Graduation ceremony at Blackburn House to recognize the progress and achievement Rebecca has made so far and the opportunities available with Cruden Group.
