The security of more than 400 homes in the Liverpool 8 area will be improved thanks to the creation of three new training posts by neighbourhood investor, the plus dane group and Cruden Property Services.
Extra funding has been secured from the Home Office for its INplaces Team in line with the 'Securing Homes Action Against Burglary' Initiative which aims to offer vulnerable residents free "handy person" work for making their properties more secure.
With three new local trainees, the INplaces Team has a target of improving the security of over 400 homes in the Liverpool 8 area. 'Safer Homes' information will also be mailed to a further 10,000 homes in the same area. Cruden Property Services will be working in partnership with plus dane to oversee and deliver the programme of security improvements while providing valuable training and mentoring for the new trainees. Cruden Property Services will be undertaking pre inspection visits to homes in the Liverpool 8 area throughout November 2009 to establish what security measures can be fitted to improve security.
The campaign will run from October 2009 to March 2010. The official launch event took place on 5th November at the Tenants' Resource Centre in Kelvin Grove. All local residents were invited to attend the event to discuss home security issues and collect a free home security pack.
Gerard Murden, Managing Director Ni Enterprise for the plus dane group said: "We are delighted that we were able to secure this funding for INplaces to provide additional job opportunities for the long term unemployed – it also meets one of our neighbourhood investor promises to our residents to help increase community safety measures in an area where there is a high incidence of domestic burglaries and break-ins."
Councillor Munby, Labour Councillor for Riverside Ward who supported the successful bid to the Home Office said: "This initiative by the plus dane group and Cruden Property Services means more security and jobs for local people. It is not exclusively for plus dane tenants but for anyone who lives in the Liverpool 8 area so I urge people to get in touch to take advantage of the opportunity for improved home security."
