St Georges Community Centre was delighted to officially open its doors to the community for the first time at the opening ceremony attended by Manchester City Council Leader Sir Richard Leese.
Cruden Small Works started the £767k refurbishment and extension of the Collyhurst community centre in January 2011 and handed it over earlier this year in August. The centre has been given a new lease of life after the Manchester City Council, Framework One project commenced with objective to redevelop the centre to create a safe, secure and welcoming facility for the local community.
The opening celebrations saw the centre packed with local residents, children and volunteers taking a tour of the new facilities and enjoying face painting, balloon modeling and all sorts of games to keep the children entertained.
The ribbon on the door was cut by Council Leader, Sir Richard Leese under the watchful eye of the Family Action team who's new offices are part of the redevelopment.
