Innovation is a core part of Cruden's culture and the Innovator of the Month is a highly regarded award open to all staff from Operative to Director. Nominations can be made by any employee for any employee who demonstrates the spirit of innovation in their role or specific project.

In 2009/10 the award was given out for a wide range of innovative activities from; excellence in client satisfaction, exemplary work onsite, implementation of processes to increase efficiency to a site team delivering a construction project a whole 5 weeks ahead of programme.

The accolade of winner of 'Innovator of the Year for 2010' went to Castlefields Site Manager Colin McGee. He took top spot for his work in applying 'lean' construction techniques to achieve dramatic time and cost savings at the Castlefields scheme in Runcorn.

Colin won the 2010 Award "against tough opposition", said Group Chairman Stephen Morris at the presentation. "Cruden has been running its highly successful 'Innovator of the Month' initiative for well over a year and has recognised some wide-ranging exceptional contributions in performance, service delivery, productivity, cost-saving and even in enthusiasm and commitment."

Colin's innovative work will further underline Cruden's continuing role at Castlefields, where a seven-year award-winning partnership with Plus Dane Housing and the local Runcorn communities have completely transformed the former deck-access estates.

Colin was announced as this years deserving winner at the annual staff review at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Thursday 18th March 2010.
