Sporting pink 'its ladies night' t shirts, 80's hot pink leg warmers and topped off with cow boy hats and flashing bunny ears, ladies from Crudens sports and social club joined over 2000 other women at midnight on Friday 18th June 2010 at Victoria Park, Warrington to walk 13.1 miles to raise money for St Roccos Hospice in Warrington.
St Roccos Hospice is a special charity for Cruden as we built the award winning 10 bedroom hospice over twelve years ago and it has since remained close to our hearts, The Starlight Walk is St Rocco's main charity event of the year. It is a ladies only, half marathon walk (13.1miles) starting at Midnight around Warrington.
Last year, 1900 local Warrington ladies walked and raised over £180,000 for St. Rocco's Hospice, early indications on the evening suggested we had raised close to £140,000 for 2010's event.
This year, Cruden entered a team to make the midnight walk who included Nic Upton in Accounts, Emma Jayne Paterson in Marketing and Audrey Headspith from Admin, plus some other non sports and social members to join in and raise funds, who included Roma Bogg, Sarah Helsby, Gemma Holcroft, Stephanie Hope, Victoria Wilson, Natalie Frame and Elle Sindall.
We all had an enjoyable night sharing a fantastic community spirit, sore feet and a much needed bacon butty and cup of tea once we crossed the finish line as the sun was coming up!
