Supporting Construction Training from the Ground Up

Supporting Construction Training from the Ground Up Picture

Sir Michael's visit, along with other influential people involved in construction training coincided with the announcement that Salford College success rates for their level two construction trainees had increased by over 20% for this year.

Sir Michael said: "It's vital that Construction is seen as a valuable career option for young learners who want to work in a safe, professional and fully qualified construction workforce; Salford College's work, with Programme Led Apprenticeship Programmes provide credible routes for young people and the workless to enter the industry. It's the flexibility of delivery, provided by colleges of further education aimed at the unemployed, disadvantaged or under–represented groups that enable communities to participate in education and training.

Barry Curran of Cruden Construction said that the resources and facilities at Salford are impressive with modern tools, good equipment and highly skilled industry accredited staff. "I'm looking forward to the Annual Awards Event when our apprentices are recognised for their high achievement and the success that they deserve. Cruden Construction, who takes their commitment to education and training very seriously, have supported these events for some times and built a solid relationship with Salford College."
