Salford Youthbuild - More chances, more choices

Salford Youthbuild - More chances, more choices Picture

The NCH Youthbuild Project provides young people aged 16 - 24, who are involved-in or at risk of offending behaviour, with the opportunity to access inclusive construction training and employment.

In excess of its partnership with Salford City, Cruden Construction has become an active participant in the programme and has recently taken-on two trainees for a nine-month programme of construction training and placement on-site. "Cruden considers its greatest potential is the harnessing of its talented people." commented MD Stephen Morris. "Our aim with Youthbuild is to provide key support for these two Salford youngsters at a critical time in their lives - to try to motivate and inspire them and to provide an
opportunity for them to meet their full potential."

Stephen added, "Over and above our commitment to 'local labour and training', once these young people have satisfactorily completed the training period they progress onto a sixmonth period of full-time employment."

The Right Honorable Hazel Blears MP and Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, officially launched the Youth Build Salford Project in early March. Commenting on the programme, she said, "This project is a great example of what can be achieved when different agencies work together to help local young people take advantage of the opportunities out there and help them to reach their full potential."
