Cruden joined forces with Community Spirit and Great Places for a fun fuelled day, despite the weather, for the Knutsford Fun Day on Saturday 16th July. Crudens Community Engagement Team, headed by Caroline Tully, provided a ten strong team of volunteers alongside providing a candy floss stall, bouncy castle, various traditional stalls, a football tournament and a 'Feed the Chimp' – manned by Great Places Finance Director Phil Elvy.

Thanks to donations from the below list of supporters, the event saw everything from alpacas, to a mobile milking station, baby chicks to gingerbread decorating, assault courses to traditional fairground stalls. Service providers from the Fire Service, Age UK, Down to Earth, Knutsford Children's Centre, Go 4 it, Great Places Housing Group, Cruden, Guide Dogs for the Blind and Knutsford Cycle were on hand to promote and offer services from home advice to blood pressure checks, summer activity programmes to library sign ups and taekwondo demonstrations.

The event, now in its 11th year, was co-ordinated by resident Andrew Hurdsfield, was organised by Community Spirit, the residents' and partners' group for Knutsford Over Ward, under the guidance of Community Spirit's chairperson councillor Olivia Hunter and supported by Great Places Housing Group. It was made possible thanks to the partnership of a whole host of organisations including Knutsford Town Council, Cheshire East Council, the local fire and police service and Manchester Airport Retired mayor, councillor Peter Coan officially opened proceedings.

To close the event, new mayor, councillor Stewart Gardiner gave out prizes for no less than 4 raffles, with lucky winners receiving everything from hotel breaks to meal vouchers, thanks to Great Places' Community rep Kane Gunter's persuasive efforts to get local businesses donating to the cause.

"The Fun Day was another fantastic success and despite the torrential rain the local community still came out to enjoy all the day had to offer. So many organisations came together to ensure the day was as exciting and jam packed as ever." says Great Places' community development co-ordinator, Alexandra Barker.
