Wulvern Housing Trust, Cruden Construction, Triangle Architects and local residents all had reason to celebrate after, the already multi award winning project, Sherbourne Road in Crewe scooped a top prize at the national 2011 UK Housing Awards hosted by the Chartered Institute of Housing in London.
The nationwide awards are in their 15th year and recognise outstanding work in the housing sector which improves the lives of local people.
The project on the Sherborne Road estate in Crewe, which beat five other nationwide nominations to win first place in the Regenerating Communities category, has created a place where people want to live and stay.
Wulvern Housing Trust worked with Triangle Architects and Cruden Construction on the first phase of the £4.5m regeneration project which included the demolition of 13 properties to open up and create public spaces, the remodelling of 53 existing houses, the creation of nine new homes, community facilities and traffic calming measures to increase road safety.
Wulvern's Head of Development Angela Hardman received the coveted trophy at a ceremony in London hosted by politics pundit Michael Portillo.
She said "To get this high-profile recognition from the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) means so much to everyone involved.
"We could not have done this without the support of residents who have played a vital role in its upkeep.
"We will continue to develop the estate, bringing services into the neighbourhood to support financial inclusion, lifelong learning, health and family support."
CIH president Helen Collins said: "Wulvern's regeneration project is a worthy winner. It is very community-led and we were impressed with its holistic approach and clear focus on positive outcomes"
Well done to all the teams involved in the planning, delivery and ongoing maintenance of Sherbourne Road it truly is a development to be proud of.
