Company History

Founded in the 1940’s in Scotland by Harry Cruden to repair war damaged houses and subsequently under a license from Swedish company ‘Skarne’ for an innovative – off site manufactured concrete house – a forerunner of today’s modern methods of construction, Cruden entered the volume house market.

In 1966 Cruden Northwest was founded, undertaking numerous projects around the region and in 1981 the renamed business – ‘Cruden Construction Limited’ was purchased by Ted Brian and became part of the successful construction group Headcrown Group Plc. Cruden Construction continued to undertake a wide range of projects achieving significant success which has provided the basis for the groups development.

In 1986 Hillcrest Homes was formed to develop prestigious and distinctive homes for sale. Shortly after Cruden Mechanical Services was formed to service growing demands from local authorities and housing associations for heating installation works.

In 1999 Cruden Property Services was acquired, operating from offices in Salford, Manchester enabling the group to once again meet the changing and growing requirements of our clients. In 2003 Cruden Homestyle enhanced the group’s structure, achieving a long held ambition to offer affordable homes for sale in partnership with established clients.

In 2007 the group combined it’s property services and mechanical service businesses to provide streamlined maintenance, mechanical and electrical solutions.

Also in 2007, Cruden Constuction (Midlands) Limited was launched to extend our construction and development abilities into the North Midlands bringing our successful construction and development formula to a new region.
